Additional info:
The earthquake was not felt by people in the Czech Republic and no damage to buildings or infrastructure is expected here.
This is the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan, and is among the 5 largest earthquakes recorded worldwide. The earthquake was followed by a great number of aftershocks also recorded by the IPE stations. Seismogram is supplemented by the broad-band seismological station KRUC near Moravský Krumlov. The short-period station designed for monitoring local seismicity is not very suitable for recording low-frequency waves of distant earthquakes, therefore no scale on the vertical axis is shown at DOUB station.
More details can be found at EMSC or USGS.
Seismogram
Seismogram of the earthquake from a station of the IPE local seismological network monitoring NPP Temelín. Time in the seismograms is in UTC (CET - 1 hour). Vertical axis shows ground velocity in mm/s.
