The earthquake was not felt by people in the Czech Republic and no damage to buildings or infrastructure is expected here.
The earthquake caused death of more than 300 people, many injuries and great material damage. Seismic activity in the region continued in the following days by a series of aftershocks. Six more earthquakes with magnitude 5.0 and greater were recorded.
